He brings a pragmatic and detail-driven approach to each matter, focusing on achieving efficient and effective outcomes. Derek’s work reflects his belief that effective representation requires both strategic precision and genuine understanding of his clients’ goals.
Experience
Before joining the firm, Derek served as a law clerk at a boutique commercial litigation practice, where he gained experience in drafting pleadings, preparing deposition summaries, and developing case strategy for high-stakes civil matters. During law school, he was elected Vice President of the Student Bar Association, served on the Dean’s Advisory Council, and worked as a Notes & Comments Editor for the Indiana Law Journal, where his scholarly writing explored the intersection of environmental regulation and economic development.
Growing up in Canada, Derek attended the University of British Columbia before earning his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
