Ronald M. DeBrigida

Ron DeBrigida is an attorney who practices criminal defense, juvenile delinquency, child dependency, and civil litigation in Arizona.

In Ron's 32 years of practice, his criminal practice has included all types of cases from major felonies to DUI to traffic offenses in both the defense and prosecution capacities.  As a prosecutor, he served as Chief of the Child Exploitation Bureau for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.  Prior to that assignment he was the Chief of the Fraud & Identity Theft Enforcement Bureau, which had also handled all computer crimes cases for Maricopa County, including internet crimes against children and computer fraud and tampering cases.  He was with the County Attorney’s Office from August 1996 to November 2007.  He also worked in the Special Crimes Bureau prosecuting drug trafficking and other criminal enterprises investigated through the use of electronic surveillance, and document-intensive investigations of public and private fraud.

Mr. DeBrigida is a 1988 graduate of Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  He is also a 1991 graduate of the Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware.  Upon graduation, Mr. DeBrigida began his career in litigation and public service with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  During his nearly five years with that office, he specialized in the investigation and prosecution of narcotics cases, and served as the Chief of the Private Criminal Complaints Unit. He also prosecuted vehicular, juvenile and child abuse cases.

Experience

Mr. DeBrigida has also served as faculty and advisor for organizations such as the State Bar of Arizona, the Arizona Supreme Court’s Judicial Education Council, the National District Attorneys Association, the F.B.I’s CART Training Program, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys Advisory Council, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  These organizations provide instruction to investigators, prosecutors, judges and forensics examiners. In recent years he has lectured to law enforcement, civic, and school groups on the topics of identity theft, high-tech crimes, and on-line crimes against children.

Ron has also addressed government officials and legislative committees on issues related to white collar crime, high-tech fraud, identity theft, and child exploitation. He has participated in the drafting of legislation and procedural rules. He regularly trained other prosecutors on the use of digital evidence, presenting expert witnesses, and prosecuting internet crimes against children.

He also has experience with various types of civil litigation.
