Zwillinger Wulkan Attorney Shandiin Herrera Serves as Business Interview Judge at 74th Annual Miss Navajo Nation Pageant
Zwillinger Wulkan associate Shandiin Herrera served as a judge for the business interview competition at this year's 74th Annual Miss Navajo Nation Pageant, evaluating candidates on their grasp of issues facing the Navajo Nation and the communication skills, judgment, and professionalism the role demands.
The Miss Navajo Nation Pageant is one of the Navajo Nation's longest-standing cultural and leadership institutions, selecting a young Diné woman to serve as the Nation's goodwill ambassador. Candidates are assessed on their command of Diné culture and language, traditional skills, leadership, and public speaking, with the titleholder representing the Nation at governmental, cultural, educational, and community events throughout her year of service.
"It was especially meaningful to participate in an event that helps preserve Diné culture and language while supporting the next generation of Navajo women leaders," Herrera said. Zwillinger Wulkan partner Larry Wulkan said the firm encourages its attorneys to pursue opportunities that connect them with the communities they serve. "Shandiin's involvement reflects exactly the kind of leadership and community engagement we want to see from our team," Wulkan said.
Herrera's turn as a judge continues the firm's practice of supporting attorneys who take on civic and cultural leadership roles beyond the courtroom.
