Geoffrey M. Trachtenberg

Geoffrey M. Trachtenberg

Geoffrey M. Trachtenberg is “AV-Rated” by Martindale-Hubbell and recognized among the “Best Lawyers in America” by U.S. News & World Report. Over the past decade, he’s been featured as one of the “Top 5” personal injury attorneys by Arizona Business Leaders, selected for the “Super Lawyers — Top 50” in Arizona, and listed in the “Top 100” lawyers by the Arizona Business Magazine.

In addition to these honors, Geoff is Board-Certified in Personal Injury and Wrongful Death litigation by the State Bar of Arizona Board of Legal Specialization. This is a special distinction requiring a significant amount of experience and is awarded to less than 1% of attorneys in Arizona after a special examination and thorough background check.

Indeed, Geoff has secured recoveries for his clients in excess of $500,000,000.  As a result, Geoff is a well-known resource among Arizona attorneys seeking assistance in the areas of civil litigation, including related ethical rules, and has written and given numerous presentations related to these topics to, among others, the State Bar of Arizona, the Maricopa County Bar Association, the Yavapai County Bar Association, the Scottsdale Bar Association, the Arizona Judges College, and the Arizona Association for Justice. He has also testified in civil matters and arbitration as an expert on legal ethics.

Geoff has been instrumental in shaping Arizona’s civil and ethical rules. Among other things, he has been selected to serve on various committees, including the Civil Justice Reform Committee, the Arizona Judicial Council, and the Attorney Ethics Advisory Committee. Each of these committee assignments has resulted in significant changes to Arizona’s civil and ethical rules.

Experience

Geoff is the past-President of the State Bar of Arizona (2015-2016) after having been elected by his peers. The SBA President leads the Board of Governors, which licenses approximately 18,000 attorneys throughout the state. During his term, Geoff’s focus was “access to justice.” To further this goal, he developed the SBA’s Public Service Center, which connected pro bono and modest means clients with attorneys willing to assist them for little or no cost.

Geoff is also the past-President of the Arizona Association for Justice (2016-2017), previously known as the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association. AzAJ consists of about 700 lawyers and is the sole Arizona bar association specifically dedicated to protecting the rights of tort victims and insurance consumers.

For ten years, Geoff served as a Judge Pro Tempore with the Maricopa County Superior Court. He also has volunteered his time with several public service organizations, such as St. Vincent de Paul, the Brain Injury Association of Arizona, and the Arizona Bar Foundation. Through these and other organizations, he has devoted significant time to assisting indigent families with free legal services and raised significant sums to assist those in need.
